Family Activity Night focusing on Health & Wellness

Ohio County, WV - A message from our Health/Nutrition Coordinator, Denise Musolino, RN, BSN, "Family Activity Night was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Our focus was health and mental health. We brought attention to oral health and how it can impact a child’s mental health. Our children are always excited to show their families what they are learning. We had several children showing their teeth brushing skills as we talked and handed out literature to parents regarding oral hygiene. Family activities can help them feel comfortable and secure in school. In addition, including families can help break down barriers between parents and head start staff. We also helped families seek out a dentist for their children and if they wanted, we gave instructions on how their child can see our mobile dentist coming to our schools in October. Our staff love to listen and share stories about the impact Head Start has had on their children and the families we serve. Sometimes all it takes is bringing families together to share and exchange one’s own experiences through our program, to build positive relationships! It was a pleasure to meet everyone and excited for our year ahead!"
